The following quote is from the book,  Deep Truth: The Lives of Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein:

"Whenever you run a clandestine operation, you run two things at the same time: you prepare the team for the hit, and you keep it so small there's nobody to spread it all around. And across the hall is a big staff working on what we call special plans. They're preparing the cover story. The cover story is what they want people to believe and to talk about, and to argue about." - From a 1992 speech by Col. Fletcher Prouty, former chief of special operations, Joint Chief of Staff

Note: Bob Woodward is either a great journalist or a career intelligence agent. Deep Truth makes the case for the latter!

Daily Sermon for the Hearing Impaired: Putting a Branch to the Nose

Putting a Branch to the Nose, by Pastor Russ [Text: Genesis 42]

Note: This daily sermon for the hearing impaired is dedicated to my good friend, David J. Bishop, who went home to be with his Lord Jesus on July 1, 2021. David was the inspiration for me to begin posting links to sermons for the hearing impaired. David's not deaf anymore. And the first words he heard were from our Lord Jesus, saying to him, "Well done, David, thou good and faithful servant. Enter into the joy of thy Lord!" [Matthew 25:21 (Audio)]

Here is one of the last pictures David sent to me before he died. He was a big sports fan and LOVED the Seattle Seahawks! But David loved our Lord Jesus much, much more!

"Whosoever calleth upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." - Romans 10:13

"My friend I stand in Judgment now
And feel that you're to blame somehow.
While on this earth I walked with you day by day
And never did you point the way.

"You knew the Lord in truth and glory,
But never did you tell the story.
My knowledge then was very dim,
You could have led me safe to him.

"Though we lived together here on earth
You never told me of the second birth.
And now I stand this day condemned,
Because you failed to mention him.

"You taught me many things, that's true,
I called you friend and trusted you.
But now I learned, now it's too late,
You could have kept me from this fate.

"We walked by day and talked by night,
And yet you showed me not the light.
You let me live, love and die,
And all the while you knew I'd never live on high.

"Yes, I called you friend in life,
And trusted you in joy and strife.
Yet in coming to this end,
I see you really weren't my friend!"
-My Friend, by D.J. Higgins

"Vietnam is the Left's favorite war because America lost."

"Historical accounts of the Vietnam War are incomprehensible because liberals refuse to admit the failure of their national security strategy. The only important lesson from the Vietnam War is this: Democrats lose wars."

"In the great Democratic tradition of taking the nation to war without a plan to win, only the Democrats could have produced Vietnam."

"President Lyndon Johnson, who inherited the war when Kenedy was assassinated, viewed the Vietnam War as a method of proving the Democrats could be trusted with foreign policy, which they cannot."

"Nixon had been elected in part based on his promise to end the war honorably. He would have done so, too, but for Democrats in Congress,"

"A Republican President either wouldn't have started that war, or would have won it pretty fast."

Westminster Shorter Catechism (WSC) Q & A #107 (1646,1647)

Question What doth the conclusion of the Lord’s Prayer teach us?

Answer:  The conclusion of the Lord’s Prayer (which is, For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever, Amen) teacheth us to take our encouragement in prayer from God only, and in our prayers to praise him, ascribing kingdom, power, and glory to him. And, in testimony of our desire, and assurance to be heard, we say, Amen.”

Westminster Shorter Catechism (WSC) Q & A #104-106 (1646,1647)

#104 Question: What do we pray for in the fourth petition?

Answer: In the fourth petition, which is, Give us this day our daily bread, we pray that of God's free gift we may receive a competent portion of the good things of this life, and enjoy his blessing with them.

#105 Question: What do we pray for in the fifth petition?

Answer:  In the fifth petition, which is, And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors, we pray that God, for Christ's sake, would freely pardon all our sins; which we are the rather encouraged to ask, because by his grace we are enabled from the heart to forgive others.

#106 Question: What Do We Pray for in the Sixth Petition?

Answer: In the Sixth Petition (Which is, And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil), we pray, that God would either keep us from being tempted to sin, or support and deliver us when we are tempted.
